It's Been Two Years!

An anniversary I never would have imagined.

It is almost too hard to even contemplate, forget about putting it into writing but I’m going to try.

September 30th marked two (2) years since I was terminated for not complying with my now former employer’s vaccine mandate.

Two years since my world was rocked, my family's lives were turned upside down and the course of my life was forever altered.

It has been surprisingly liberating but, I would be outright lying if I said it was at all easy.

Many times it has felt downright impossible but somehow my family and I have managed to make it two years.

There are millions more like myself around the world who are still reeling from this as my family and I continue to. 

I count myself amongst the very blessed because I have not lost nearly what many others have. I know it could be so much worse.

Today, I want to share why I think it is so important to not let what happened to the wrongfully terminated fall silent and into the dustbin of history.

While many have already moved on from covid, we may never be able to turn the page.

I think that it’s best to start at the beginning before getting into the heart of the matter.

Let me re-introduce myself

For 20 years I was a research scientist in the lab. My experience is in biochemistry, molecular biology, virology, electrophysiology, immunology, oncology and more.

Most of my career has been in industry doing drug discovery and development research. I’ve seen some  interesting things.

Most recently I was a senior scientist at a biotech company in the immuno-oncology space where I helped to bring two antibodies into clinical trials.

That all ended in September of 2021 when my now former employer rejected my religious exemption and terminated me for failing to comply with their vaccine mandate.

It turned my family’s lives upside down but I am beyond grateful for the incredible support I’ve had from my wife, kids and many others.

Since then I’ve been speaking out and sharing the truth about the current state of scientific research.

Hint: it’s not good. 

I’ve shared my insights on all things covid as well.

Many in the mainstream news say that we were given a choice, that we weren’t forced.  

But, is that really true?

It was an ultimatum

For many of us, the choice presented really wasn’t much of a choice.

Get up-to-date on vaccination for covid or we will terminate your employment.

If you thought you had the freedom to choose, you were wrong.

If you thought your choice would be respected, you were wrong.

If you thought your religious beliefs were protected, apparently you were wrong as well.

I remained steadfast in the face of it all.

No amount of bullying, money or anything else was going to convince me to go against my principles.

That is something I greatly admire about all those who faced a similar situation. They kept their integrity and stuck to their principles.

We could use a lot more of this kind of attitude and integrity these days.

In the end, for many the cost of standing strong meant not just the loss of their job but, in many cases, a career.

It wasn’t only a job that we lost

I didn’t just lose my job.

I effectively lost my entire career.

20 years worth of work. Many long days, nights and even weekends spent in the lab.

A masters degree from a supposedly prestigious university.

None of it mattered. 

My former colleagues will have nothing to do with me now.

Recruiters wouldn’t work with me because “I should have known better” and that effectively the whole industry is pushing mandates now.

My wife, God bless her, went back to work and I’ve stayed at home trying to carve a new path.

I’m still trying to generate any income, forget about getting anywhere near to what earned previously.

One thing that is so important to understand is that many of us who lost our jobs due to declining vaccine mandates are now effectively ostracized from our prior industries.

They want nothing to do with us.  We are effectively unhirable in those industries.

I've connected with other scientists who say much the same.

This is one reason why so many are still being affected by it even as a large percentage of the population has completely forgotten about covid.

And this is also why I will not stop talking about it until all who've been affected get the help they need.

The stories are heartbreaking but, must be heard

I can hardly believe some of the things I’m hearing from others who declined to take the covid vaccine and lost literally everything.

I gave up a lot when I did not comply and was terminated. 

We are still reeling from it 2 years later, but we are very fortunate.

The things I’m hearing are heartbreaking and they just keep coming.

Losses of everything from houses to marriages and more.

I vow to never stop talking about it.

We cannot let these people or what was done to them be forgotten.

As covid becomes further memory holed by the masses these good people still have nothing left.

I wish that more people would focus on getting help to these people and all those injured by the vaccines.

There are millions that have been affected and for the most part their voices remain silent, their stories untold.

I would wager to bet that most people do not realize just how staggering the numbers are of those impacted by the vaccine mandates.

That needs to change and I want to be a part of making that happen.

In fact, I am working on an idea to get the stories out, to ensure they are heard and that people get the help they so desperately need.
